As the final book in The Paladin Trilogy, I can't stress enough how impressed I am with the ending of these books. The author takes you on an epic journey through wind-blown plains, mountain peak towers, into the very bowels of the Netherworld itself, and now flings you into a final battle between the forces of good and evil leaving you breathless. All of the many threads of plot are woven skillfully together into a final few chapters that brings the entire series to a very satisfying end. You won't be able to put this book down.
Darkness Ascending. OK I Read the first two books of the trilogy and really enjoyed them. The third was just as captivating. The story line really comes together and the significance of the individuals becomes more and more intertwined. I don't want to give away anything so I'll keep it short, though this book is much longer in content, the events cover such a small sliver of time. The author does a splendid job of pulling you through the events, switching from scene to scene and providing details to the world he has created that play forth in the mind as a mental high-def. movie. I started this trilogy as a filler before I began my next Salvatore series. I leave this trilogy wanting more, and as I mentioned in my review of the first book the author has a website and blog. There it mentions the possibility of more works on the horizon.
I have not sat down to read an entire trilogy, one book after another, for a very long time; that is, until THE PALADIN TRILOGY (A Rage in the Heavens, Upon This World of Stone, and, the 3rd book in the Trilogy, Darkness Ascending)! I was entertained. I was engrossed. I was captivated. I was never bored! I was satisfied. And, I am ready for Book 4 or another trilogy by James Hillebrecht. I highly recommend DARKNESS ASCENDING! Well crafted, tight story with sympathetic well developed characters and just a little romance. Adella may be the most compelling figure of all.
